Awe Therapy
Start Your Year in Awe
3rd January 2016, 12-2pm, Alexandra Palace, London
'Awesome' is a rather over-used word!
But what if we scaled back the word to that oft-forgotten state which is simply, and yet so profoundly, 'awe'?
What if we gave ourselves time to truly feel it, every day?
The state or feeling of awe is highly beneficial for our wellbeing. And it's so wonderful to experience!
As well as enhancing our prosocial behaviours such as empathy, trust, connection, generosity and humility, the most recent research shows that awe could even have a positive effect on inflammation and physical and mental health.
So join me at the start of this new year and learn how easily you can feel it for yourself, every day. Experience the wonder and magic of the ordinary, of others, and of yourself. And together let's Start the Year in Awe!
My own experiences with Awe
I personally experience awe almost every day. Being quite naturally full of curiosity and wonder about the world, I am very often struck, by the most ordinary of things, into feeling it.
A few years ago, I developed 'awe therapy' which I used with residents at a nursing home to increase their sense of wellbeing. We had some truly wonderful and joyous sessions and, in what can be a challenging environment, my experience was that people who attended left feeling lighter, happier and more at ease.
In 2014 I included this work when I assisted on the Life Talent Programme to help people connect more deeply with their sense of joy and also their ability to see themselves and others as the amazing creatures we humans are.

Alexandra Palace Park is a beautiful, inspiring place with amazing views over London. We will meet on the South Terrace steps which lead to the crossing into the park. This is an outdoor event so please dress appropriately!
